Tests & question pools — assessment without the paperwork
Create questions once and reuse them: accora runs tests online, grades automatically whatever can be graded automatically, and keeps the procedure fair.
What the test module offers
Question pool per course
Single choice, multiple choice, true/false and free text, with points per question. Created once, usable in any number of tests.
Fixed set or random draw
A test uses a fixed set of questions or draws a number at random from the pool, so not everyone gets the same paper.
Time limit with auto-submit
When time runs out, the server submits automatically. The limit is enforced server-side, reloading the browser tab changes nothing.
Availability and assignment
Open tests from a set date or assign them to specific participants only. Publishing is a deliberate act, not an accident.
Automatic grading
Choice questions are graded instantly, free-text answers you score by hand. The result flows into the gradebook.
Fair conditions
Question order can be shuffled, answers stay under wraps until grading, and everything is validated on the server.
From pool to finished test
The question pool belongs to the course and grows over time. For a test you pick questions deliberately or let accora draw at random, set the time limit and start date, and publish when everything is ready. Until then, participants see nothing.
Results without rework
Choice questions are graded the moment the test is submitted. For free-text questions accora presents the open answers for scoring, after which the total is fixed and appears in the gradebook. Participants are notified and see their points in the course.
Frequently asked questions
How does accora prevent cheating?
With the measures that genuinely work online: shuffled question order, random selection from the pool, a hard server-side time limit and answers that never reach the browser before grading.
What happens if the connection drops?
The attempt keeps running on the server. The participant can reload the page and continue as long as the time limit has not expired.
Can a participant repeat a test?
Currently one attempt per participant and test. For practice you can create the same test several times, for instance with a random question draw.
When do participants see their result?
As soon as the attempt is fully graded. With choice questions only, that is right after submitting, otherwise after the free-text scoring.
